Do you see a checkbox?

Those classes with a checkbox beside them are available for open registration. To select a course, tick off the checkbox and click the Register button. If a class is listed and does not have any box at all, you may have already registered in that course. Check the Add/Drop Classes page to verify this. Classes with a "C" in that column are identified as closed classes and this means that they are full and unavailable for registration. You may wish to check back periodically to see if there is an opening or choose another class/section.

No checkbox?

If there are no checkboxes on any of your search results, it may not be your time to register. Carleton Central gives users the ability to search the class schedule before registration begins. Please check your registration date and time in the Registration Instructions booklet.

Do you have special permission (i.e. for a restricted course)?

If you have special permission to register in a restricted class and use the class search to view the class, it still may not be possible to add it in this manner. In that case, simply enter the desired CRN in the Add Class table on the Build Registration Schedule page and press Submit.

Not ready to register?

If you are not ready for register in a class from these search results, you may wish to add it to a worksheet. Simply select a class by ticking off the checkbox and press the Add to Worksheet button. This worksheet DOES NOT register you in the class, nor does it hold a place for you. It simply saves the CRN (course reference number) in a worksheet on the Add/Drop Classes page so that you may submit them at a later time in your current session. Please note: You are not registered in the class until you submit those selections!

Did you select more than one subject?

If more than one subject was selected in the search criteria, your search results are separated by Subject and are presented in CRN order.

Is a separate lab or tutorial required?

Please note that some classes require that you also select a separate lab or group session along with the lecture. You will receive a registration error if both the lecture and the lab/group are not selected for registration. These are known as "linked" components. All components separate from the lecture (LEC) have a section A1 (or A2, A3, etc.). For example, CHEM 1000 A (lecture) must be registered simultaneously with CHEM 1000 A1 (LAB). You can also identify the linked components by their Schd Type. Linked components have Schd Types of TUT, LAB, GRP, etc. For more information about linked courses click here.

Have you registered for a T or V section?

Students who register for a T or V section of a course are registering in a section of a course that is broadcast on television. There are no on-campus classes for the T and V sections. Students will view the class by watching CUTV, Rogers Digital Television Channel 243. Rogers Channel 243 is a digital channel and will require the rental of a digital terminal in addition to cable services.

Please note that lectures are also offered online via the Video-on-Demand (VOD) service. Additional fees do apply and access to high speed internet is required. For additional information, please refer to the CUTV website.
